Safety & Contraindications
Your wellbeing comes first
At Light Nourishment, your comfort, safety and wellbeing are always my priority. The experiences I offer are intended to support relaxation, self-awareness and wellbeing. They are complementary experiences and are not a substitute for medical care, diagnosis or treatment. Everyone is different, and some of the practices offered may not be suitable for everyone. Please read the information below before booking.
If you have a medical condition, are taking medication, are pregnant, have recently had surgery or are unsure whether a particular experience is suitable for you, please seek advice from your doctor or healthcare professional before booking. If you are unsure, please contact me before booking and I will be happy to discuss your circumstances.
Gong Baths & Sound Healing
Gong Baths are immersive sound experiences where you may be exposed to a range of sounds, frequencies and vibrations while lying or resting for an extended period. They are generally gentle and relaxing, but certain circumstances may require additional consideration. Please contact me before booking if you: are pregnant or think you may be pregnant; have epilepsy or a history of seizures; have significant hearing loss, severe tinnitus or another condition that may be affected by sound; have a condition that may be affected by loud sound or vibration; have a serious cardiovascular condition; have a pacemaker or other implanted medical device; have recently undergone surgery or have an acute injury; have difficulty lying comfortably for an extended period; have a condition where deep relaxation, sound or vibration may cause concern; are experiencing significant psychological or emotional distress where an immersive experience may not feel appropriate; or have any other health concern that you feel may affect your ability to participate safely. This list is not exhaustive.
During your Gong Bath, you remain in control of your experience at all times. You can change position, sit up, take a break, leave the space or ask for assistance whenever you need to. If the sound feels too intense or you become uncomfortable at any point, please let me know. There is no requirement to remain lying down for the entire session.
Ceremonial Cacao
Ceremonial cacao is a natural food containing naturally occurring compounds including theobromine and small amounts of caffeine. Although cacao is enjoyed safely by many people, it may not be suitable for everyone. Please contact me before participating in a cacao ceremony if you: are pregnant or breastfeeding; have a heart or cardiovascular condition; have high or low blood pressure that is not well controlled; have been advised to limit stimulants such as caffeine or theobromine; take medication that may interact with cacao or stimulant compounds; have a known allergy or intolerance to cacao or any ingredients being served; or have any other medical condition where cacao may not be appropriate. If you take regular medication or have a medical condition, please speak with your healthcare professional if you are unsure whether cacao is suitable for you.
Food allergies & dietary requirements
"Please let me know about any allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements when booking. While I will always take reasonable care, I cannot guarantee an environment completely free from traces of allergens.
AromaTouch® Technique
The AromaTouch® Technique uses gentle, hands-on touch combined with essential oils, and may not be appropriate in certain circumstances. Please inform me before booking if you: are pregnant or breastfeeding; have a known allergy or sensitivity to essential oils; have a skin condition, open wound or area of irritation; have a condition affecting your circulation or blood clotting; take medication that affects blood clotting; have a significant cardiovascular condition; have recently undergone surgery; have an acute injury, inflammation or unexplained pain; have a fever or are experiencing an acute illness; or have any other condition where essential oils or hands-on touch may not be appropriate.
Because essential oils are used throughout the treatment, we'll always discuss any known allergies or sensitivities with you before your session begins, as part of your consultation. Please let me know about any concerns as early as possible so we can make sure the experience is safe and comfortable for you.
Massage
Massage is a hands-on wellbeing treatment and may not be appropriate in certain circumstances. Please inform me before booking if you: are pregnant or have recently given birth; have recently undergone surgery; have an acute injury, inflammation or unexplained pain; have a fever or are experiencing an acute illness; have an infectious skin condition or open wound; have a condition affecting your circulation or blood clotting; take medication that affects blood clotting; have a significant cardiovascular condition; have severe or unexplained swelling; have osteoporosis or another condition affecting bone strength; or have any other condition where massage may not be appropriate. Depending on your circumstances, I may recommend postponing treatment or obtaining medical advice before your appointment. Please always tell me about any relevant injuries, medical conditions, medication or recent procedures before your treatment begins.
Reiki & Energy Work
Reiki and energy-based practices are gentle, non-invasive wellbeing experiences. They are not intended to diagnose, treat or cure medical or psychological conditions and should not replace appropriate medical or psychological care. If you are experiencing significant physical or psychological symptoms, please seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional. You remain fully in control throughout the session and can ask to stop at any time.
If you become unwell
Please do not attend a session if you are experiencing an acute illness, fever, contagious infection or are otherwise too unwell to participate comfortably. If you become unwell before your appointment, please contact me as soon as possible. I will always aim to deal with situations fairly and compassionately while also considering the limited spaces available within each session.
Your comfort and consent
Your participation is always voluntary. You do not have to continue with any part of an experience that makes you uncomfortable. You are welcome to ask questions, request an adjustment or stop a session at any point. I will never expect you to participate in something that you do not feel comfortable with.
Not sure if a session is suitable for you?
Please don't worry about asking. If you have a health condition, take medication, are pregnant, have recently undergone a procedure or simply aren't sure whether one of my services is right for you, please contact me before booking. Your wellbeing comes first.
Light Nourishment experiences are complementary wellbeing practices and are not intended to replace medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
